Meet Zoe! She is a 5-6 year old German Shepherd mix. She was brought into DeKalb Animal Services with a severely broken leg as a result of being hit by the car. The vet at the shelter decided to give her a chance, and amputated the useless leg. Turns out, Zoe is also heartworm positive. When she first came into the AARF program, she was so afraid of new people and places. It's hard to think about what this sweet girl had been through before coming to the shelter and to AARF. But today, Zoe is a happy and loving girl! She is learning to get around great on just 3 legs, and is thriving in her foster home. She is learning that love and attention are fantastic, and not something to be afraid of. She will start her heartworm treatment in the early part of March, and will be ready for her forever home by mid-April. But you can fill out an application now, and get to know Zoe. **In order to help with her transition to a new home, AARF will pay for 3 in-home training sessions with a certified trainer for her new family. We want her happy ending to be the best it can be!**
